Now made to measure in the UK!

As a new member of the Interior Goods Direct (IGD) group, we are delighted to announce that all Wilsons Blinds products are now made to measure here in the UK.

We’ve been selling blinds online since 2005 and have gained an excellent reputation as a leading blinds retailer. Now, we’re very excited to further boost our quality and customer service by crafting all products in our new premises in Yorkshire.

As a proud member of IGD, our blinds, curtains and homewares are now handmade within a dedicated 100,00 sq ft factory by a talented team of crafters. Our UK manufacturing means that we can make and deliver orders more promptly, as well as using fewer vehicles and fuel, which significantly lowers our carbon footprint. Making our products in the UK also means we are able to support the economy by providing a variety of jobs for local people.

All of our interior products are made to measure to your requirements, crafted using the very best methods and materials. They are then carefully checked prior to despatch, ensuring only the highest quality items make their way into your home. We strive to use the finest materials that are ethically sourced, including using FSC-certified wood, which comes from sustainable forests.

Wilsons are now offering a 3 year guarantee on all products and free delivery on orders over £169.00. You can also order up to 8 free fabric samples to ensure you’re 100% happy with the choice. Best of all, our products are extremely easy to measure for and install, so you can create the room of your dreams with very little fuss!

The best curtain poles for your home

Curtains are a classic window treatment, bringing warmth, privacy and style to your room. But your curtains aren’t complete without the right curtain pole. So what should you choose?

We have a fantastic range of curtain poles at Wilsons Blinds, whether you prefer natural wood, metal or painted designs. Our real wooden poles are a great option for classic cosy interior design themes, tying in perfectly with soft earthy tones like pebble, sage and sand. They look great alongside natural fabrics, including soft cotton, hessian and linen, as well as delicately patterned or embroidered materials. Here are some of our best selling wooden pole styles. Which is your favourite?

Along with real wooden curtain poles, we have a wide selection of metal styles. Our metal curtain poles are perfect for modern homes, bringing a touch of minimalist luxury. We think they work particularly well with curtains with a pinch pleat heading, as well as fabrics featuring bold geometric patterns. If your curtains have a soft mineral colour, a sleek metal pole will create a stylish contrast. Meanwhile, dark fabrics will be complemented by both steel and black metal. We’ve gathered a few of our favourite metal poles – which do you prefer?

Our painted wood curtain poles are another great option, especially if you’re a fan of relaxed, feminine or countryside interiors. Our styles include white paint, cream paint and metallic paint, in a range of glossy, matte and distressed finishes. If your curtains are of a lighter material, consider an off-white coloured pole. For a heavier fabric with a bold colour and print, you could try an old gold or dark pearl colour. A painted wooden pole also works brilliantly with floral curtains and sheer voiles. Here are some of our leading painted poles, all hand-finished in our factory in Yorkshire. Which would work best in your home?

And finally, our collection of poles with eye-catching finials is the ultimate choice if you want to make a statement. If you’re a big fan of unique interiors and opulent details, consider a curtain pole with a glass, crystal or polished chrome finial. You could also consider a finial with an elaborate design, such as florals or swirls. These poles are the perfect finishing touch for statement curtains, including velvets, bold jewel tones and oversized floral prints. Take a look at some of our favourites – which would you choose?

Here at Wilsons, we want to help you make more of your windows with our range of high quality, made to measure window dressings and interior products. For more information, please get in touch with a member of the team at Wilsons – we are always happy to help.

How to create a home office

Many of us are now working from home, and here at Wilsons, we want to give you our top tips for creating a super focused and functional space.

Choose a work zone

Your new home work zone needs to be distraction free to help you be as productive as possible. Choose an area of the home that is quiet and encourages productivity. If you don’t have a separate home office, you might use a desk in the bedroom, a corner of the kitchen, or even the dining room table. No matter where your new work zone is located, remember to tidy away anything work-related at the end of the day. This will help to maintain a better work/life balance.

Make sure you’re sitting comfortably

You might be spending many hours sitting at your computer, so it’s important that your seat is comfortable and supportive. If you can afford to invest in a good quality ergonomic office chair, then do. If budgets are tighter, consider a lumbar support. Try to avoid sitting for long periods of time and get up for a quick stroll every hour. This will help to reduce the strain on your back and neck.

Create plenty of light

Try to sit in an area with plenty of natural light. This will help to boost your mood and improve focus. If natural light is lacking, look for good task lighting that will prevent eye strain. Light sources like fairy lights and table lamps are good for creating a cosy atmosphere, but you shouldn’t rely on them in order to see your work.

Keep things neat and organised

Your new work zone is probably very small, so you need to use the space carefully. Try to avoid cluttering up your desk and only keep essential items out. Use storage solutions like desk organisers or baskets to ensure your stationery and notebooks are neat and tidy. If your work requires lots of different tools and equipment, consider a new shelving unit or a storage unit to keep things organised.

Install a good quality blind

Choose a window dressing that controls the light efficiently and prevents glare and eye strain. If your new work zone is overlooked, consider a blind that will offer excellent levels of privacy. Some good options include Day and Night blinds, which can be arranged in a variety of ways, or Venetian blinds, which still offer a gentle filter of sunlight and fresh air whilst maintaining privacy. Alternatively, you could choose a roller blind or Roman blind, which are available in a wide range of colours and patterns. Roof blinds are also the best choice for spaces with velux windows.
